Preparation for First Holy Communion

Registration for faith formation for the 2026-27 is now OPEN

Children's Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion for the 2026-27 faith formation year will now be offered via standard children’s faith formation instead of The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) as in previous year. To read a letter with more information on this shift, please click here.

Children preparing to receive these sacraments in 2026-27 should have participated in CGS or another faith formation program during the school year 2025-26, need to attend all the sacramental preparation retreats/activities, and attend Mass regularly.

This year’s sacramental preparation fee is $75 per student. This includes materials and the First Communion retreat fee. No Sacred Heart/St. Joseph the Worker family will be turned away from participating in our Faith Formation programs due to financial need; contact the parish office for more information.

*For those registering for the sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion, please provide a copy of the child’s baptismal certificate.

If your child has not yet received these sacraments (including the Sacrament of Baptism) and he or she is over age 7, or if you are a baptized adult Catholic who has never prepared for First Reconciliation and First Communion, contact the parish office by email or call 360.687.4515.
