Sacrament of Matrimony

β€œThe matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is, by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament.” (CCC#1601)

Congratulations on your engagement!
This is an exciting time for you and we are here to assist you with planning your wedding.

Couples seeking the Sacrament of Marriage at Sacred Heart or St. Joseph the Worker Mission are required to contact the parish at least 6 months prior to their anticipated wedding date. It is recommended that no wedding plans be made until you have met with the pastor or his delegate and secured your desired date.

At least one member of the couple must be a fully initiated practicing Catholic. It is preferable that you be registered at Sacred Heart or St. Joseph and are participating in parish life. More information may be obtained by calling the parish office at 360.687.4515 or emailing Debbie Wilson at d.wilson@sacredheartbg.org.

For couples who are already married outside of the Catholic faith and are seeking to have their marriage normalized by the Catholic church please contact the parish office and speak to Debbie about beginning the process of their convalidation.
