Children's Faith Formation and Preparation for 1st Reconciliation and 1st Eucharist
Our Family Faith Formation program this year incorporates parish and home lessons from Alive in Christ (Our Sunday Visitor). Each month from September to May we come together for a parish-wide Faith Formation Session on the Third Wednesday of the Month at Sacred Heart from 6-7:30 PM. Age groups are divided as follows: Childcare, K-1, 2nd Grade (Sacramental Prep for 1st Reconciliation and 1st Eucharist; Children's Catechumenate), 3rd-4th Grade, Middle (5th-8th), and High School and Adults. We gather together for prayer, and then the age groups split off to receive catechesis for their particular grade level. In the weeks between the monthly meetings, families complete weekly lessons at home using the Alive in Christ student workbooks along with online resources. Parents should designate a time to meet as a family with their children each week; families are also encouraged to meet in clusters to work on the homework together, if needed. Family Formation begins September 20, 2017 and concludes May 16, 2018.
Children's Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) at 10:30 AM Mass at Sacred Heart. Children are dismissed after the Collect Prayer and return to Mass at the Presentation of the Gifts. A team of 1 adult and a teen helper leads the children in the Mass readings and helps them better understand the readings. If there is enough interest, we will expand CLOW to the 8:30 AM Mass at Sacred Heart. We need your help! Please contact the parish office if you would like to volunteer to be a leader.
